Sanibel Historical Museum and Village is Beneficiary of February Spirit Tree

by R.S. Walsh

In The Garden – Sanibel’s Retail Garden Center and Outdoor Showroom – has planted a spirit tree that will benefit island non-profits. The Olive tree was chosen because it represents love and charity. Sanibel Historical Museum and Village is the February beneficiary.

Sanibel Historical Museum and Village was founded in 1984 with a mission to preserve and share Sanibel history.  The story of Sanibel is told from the Calusa and Spanish eras to the early pioneer families who settled on the island in the 1800s.  It tells of warriors, adventures, fishermen, farmers and proprietors.

“We are inviting everyone to stop by and add their good thoughts, well-wishes and blessings to our spirit tree,” said Lisa Walsh, owner of In The Garden and R.S. Walsh Landscaping. “Canvas tags are available in our gift shop for $2.00 and the entire amount will be donated to different local charity each month.”
